I have spent a number of years developing the art of finishing models to give the appearance of a piece of working metal.
Here a few examples of my journey.

Hornby B1 given 1960s, hard working finish.

Hornby B1 portrayed in clean mid-1950s condition.

A selection of steam-era vans.

Bachmann loco in well-used but clean condition.

Bachmann 45 ton tank in workstained livery.

Private owner scrap wagon. (They got much worse than this!)

Told you so!

Dog-eared ensemble!

My pet Class 37 from the 1980s!

100 ton tank. Still in service today in similar condition.

BR Airbraked open wagon from the Speedlink era.

Back dated to have representation of gangway doors, modified bogie detail.

How Haymarket turned out their A3s in 1956!

Fairly ex-works blue, circa 1967.

Well-maintained Mixed Traffic black, circa 1955.

70035 in very rough, end of career condition.

Dave is a pleasure to deal with, his use of subtle colouring is always just right and never overdone. He definitely has the knack.

Do you fancy something different? I have a cheapo plastic 1:45 farm trailer that needs turning into something believeable….. Tim
